Private health insurance explained

A basic level of Extras cover which is great if you're normally healthy and want access to benefits for routine dental, optical, physio, osteo or chiro and some alternative therapies. It also includes a range of health improvement benefits for things like weight loss, some Cancer Council UV products and exercise classes (where part of an approved health management program).

Better yet, ahm believes it's important that our members get all they're entitled to, that's why there are no 2 and 6 month waiting periods on our Extras covers.

Waiting periods

When you take out Extras cover or change your level of cover, you'll have to wait a set time before you can claim for some services and benefits you weren't previously covered for.

Where benefits are greater on your new level of cover, we'll pay the benefit at the amount on your previous level of cover until the waiting period is served.
