Alternatives to Admission
Going to hospital - is there an alternative?
Admission to hospital is essential in some cases. However if your doctor agrees that it’s clinically appropriate, you may be able to avoid hospital altogether. Under our Alternatives to Admission program, we work with your doctor to put in place a comprehensive individual care plan for you.
How do we help you?
Our program coordinators are experienced Registered Nurses who can arrange for treatment and services to be provided at your home during the period of your acute illness. These include:
- Home nursing
- Personal care
- Cleaning, meals, and transport
- Carer for children.
Can I enrol?
You are eligible to participate in this program if:- Your doctor considers it appropriate for you to be treated at home.
- You have hospital cover with Australian Health Management
- You’ve served your waiting periods
